A great international exhibition
in a small capital city of art
in the heart of the Marche Region.
The Exhibition entitled Gentile da Fabriano and the other Renaissance, to be held in Fabriano from April 21st to July 23rd 2006, is an absolute premiere in the sense that no other exhibition of work by the great Maestro has ever been organised.
A considerable number of his works of art, in addition to some by his contemporaries and his followers, will be shown in the 15th Century Spedale di Santa Maria del Buon Gesł documenting the activity of this artist, who in many senses anticipated with his originality the advent of the Renaissance. Preparatory work by a Scientific Committee, including experts of world renown, have led to new developments in studies on this Artist and on the artistic season in which he played an undisputed leading role. This event also wishes to be a homage from Fabriano to its most famous citizen, valorising the role the city played in its historical development; a city that in past centuries was a free commune and a busy centre for manufacturing activities, a tradition past down with no interruptions to the current fervour of industrial businesses; but also a cultural centre integrated in what was a fecund breeding ground for artists in Tuscany, Umbria and Marche between the 14th and the 15th centuries. Finally, this exhibition in Fabriano intend to contribute to emphasising the image of the Marche in its less appreciated aspects; not only a Region experiencing intense economic development, but also a territory rich in high expressions of art and culture |
